Books for AP Lang-which one should I read?
I've narrowed down my very long list of book choices for AP Lang to these 12 books. I have read about all of them but am having trouble deciding which one sounds like the best read. If any of you have read these, please tell me which one you think i'd prefer. I typically like books that are:
1. fiction (although i'll read nonfiction if it's really good)
2. not incredibly depressing
3. humorous at times
4. have good characters and interesting story lines
5. i'm not that into books about slavery or war
***also i need a book that will provide me with good material for essays/journal entries..
Here are the books:
1. The Joy Luck Club
2. Plainsong
3. Blackberry Wine
4. Ordinary People
5. A Yellow Raft in Blue Water
6. The Copper Beech
7. All Creatures Great and Small
8. Dust Tracks on a Road
9. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
10. The Shipping News
11. Pilgrim at Tinker Creek
12. Blue Highways
All Creatures Great and Small is absolutely the best book on that list. It is written by and about a veterinarian in Yorkshire it is short stories about the animals he treated and different things that happened to him. It is sometimes funny or a little sad but it is one of my favorite books ever.
